We are Maximum Coastal Adventures — a small, owner-run fishing charter born and raised on the wild edge of Vancouver Island. For us this was never just a business. It's a way of sharing the water we grew up on, the fish we chase every season, and the raw beauty of Ucluelet with the people who step aboard.

Local Guides, A Lifetime On This Coast

Maximum Coastal Adventures grew out of a simple, stubborn love for the Pacific. Long before there was a logo on the hull, we were teenagers launching small boats off the Ucluelet docks, learning the moods of Barkley Sound one tide at a time — where the springs stage in July, where the halibut sit on the banks, which back-eddy the coho pour through when the wind swings west.

Those decades on the water became the whole point. We built this charter so we could hand that knowledge to you directly — no crowds, no assembly-line trips, just a seasoned local at the wheel who genuinely wants you to have the day of your life out here.

Two owner-operators run every charter personally — you'll never be handed off to a stranger. When you book with us, one of these two is at the helm.

Shea O'Grady

Guide & Co-Owner

Shea has fished these waters his whole life and reads the coast like a second language — tide, bait, weather and structure all clicking into place before most people have their coffee. Calm, patient and endlessly generous with what he knows, he's as happy putting a first-timer onto their first salmon as he is chasing trophy Chinook with a repeat guest.

When he isn't guiding, you'll find him scouting new ground through the Broken Group Islands and quietly keeping tabs on where the fish will be next week.

Guide & Co-Owner

James is the one guests come back for year after year. Sharp on the water and a natural storyteller, he pairs a deep working knowledge of the Ucluelet fishery with an easy, welcoming way that makes the whole boat feel like old friends by the first bite.

Safety-obsessed and fiercely proud of the fleet, he keeps both boats immaculate and every trip running smooth — so all you have to think about is the rod in your hands.

A Day Immersed In A Wild Place

A charter with us is a front-row seat to one of the last truly wild coastlines on the planet. Between bites you'll drift past sea lions hauled out on the rocks, rafts of otters, eagles working the shoreline and the mist rolling off old-growth rainforest.

These are the traditional waters of the Nuu-chah-nulth peoples, and we treat them with the respect that legacy demands — fishing sustainably, following the regulations that keep these runs healthy, and leaving the coast exactly as wild as we found it for the next generation of anglers.
